What they did
He opened the Cowork tab in the Claude desktop app and dragged in the business's bookkeeping spreadsheet plus recent bank statements. He then asked it to reconcile the statements against the spreadsheet, update categories, add the missing expenses and flag anything without a receipt.
What happened
The poster says records last touched about a year earlier were up to date within an hour, and that the job would otherwise have meant paying a bookkeeper.

The author runs an AI consultancy and the post is promotional. It shows no error check or accountant review of the output, so accuracy is unverified.
Try it with your agent
Here is my bookkeeping spreadsheet <your bookkeeping file> and bank statements for <date range>. Reconcile every bank line against the spreadsheet, add any missing transactions with a suggested category, and list lines you are unsure about separately. Flag every expense over <amount threshold> that has no receipt in <your receipts folder>. Save the result as a new file and leave the original untouched.
Replace the <angle brackets> with your own details.
