A finance lead at a company with two QuickBooks entities used Claude Code to connect to the QuickBooks API, sync the general ledger daily and rebuild a consolidated P&L that used to live in Excel.

What they did
The old P&L ran on Power Query with about ten mapping tables that needed manual updates for every new account or hire. He got production API access from Intuit, gave the keys to Claude Code, and had it plan the work first, correcting the plan before approving. Claude Code loaded roughly 60,000 ledger rows from both entities into a Supabase database, set up a daily sync, and built the P&L by product line, department and EBITDA.
What happened
The poster says the new P&L matched the old Power Query output, and a monthly check now flags net income mismatches by entity and currency. He also says Claude Code reclassified 12 months of miscoded transactions in about 10 minutes.
Keep in mind
He warns that the agent can post and change journal entries at scale, so every request needs careful review, and says the setup took a lot of work. Screenshots in the post use dummy data, so the real figures are not shown.
Try it with your agent
Connect to my accounting system using <your API credentials file> and pull the full general ledger for <entity names> into <your database or a local CSV folder>. Plan the steps first and wait for my approval. Then build a monthly P&L by <product line and department>, and add a check that flags any month where net income differs from the accounting system. Do not create or edit any journal entries.
Replace the <angle brackets> with your own details.
