What they did
Working in Claude Cowork with the Gmail connector, he first asked Claude to list which emails under an existing 'Archiveable' label were newsletters and which were safe to drop, without acting. Claude grouped them into editorial and retail newsletters and flagged a school email to keep. He then went through them one at a time in a multiple choice format, and Claude wrote a small script that clicked Gmail's unsubscribe button, run through the Chrome extension.
What happened
The writer says 21 newsletters were unsubscribed in about five minutes, and Claude suggested an ongoing routine to mark returning senders as spam.
Keep in mind
The human made every keep or drop decision. The article reports no failures, but it does not show whether every sender actually stopped mailing.
Try it with your agent
Look at the emails under <your newsletter label> and list which are newsletters, grouped by type, with a keep or unsubscribe recommendation for each. Do not act yet. Walk me through them one at a time so I can decide, then unsubscribe from the ones I mark using the unsubscribe link in Gmail.
Replace the <angle brackets> with your own details.
